26 Apr 2025 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Three female characters dressed as lollipop ladies carrying reactive signs

This workshop introduces you to the fascinating world of mask theatre. You will learn about non-verbal communication, and how physical expression can speak louder than words.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn about full face non-verbal mask theatre and its history.
  • Join in physical warm-up exercises to enhance body awareness, flexibility, and movement.
  • Meet the Lolly Pop Ladies, a group of characters in costumes and masks.
  • Choose a mask and experiment with physical traits and mannerisms to bring your mask/character to life.
  • Participate in improvisation activities to refine your character's quirks, gestures, and personality.

All participants are invited to:

  • Participate in a follow-up workshop - ‘Develop a mask theatre character’.
  • Be part of a roving performance as one of the Lolly Pop Ladies at the 2025 Anywhere Festival Moreton Bay.
