Next date: Saturday, 21 June 2025 | 09:00 AM
to 12:00 PM
21 June marks International Make Music Day, a global celebration encouraging people to create and experience music in public spaces. This year, City of Moreton Bay joins over 750 cities across 120 countries to celebrate with musical activities at local galleries, libraries, and museums.
Join us at Bribie Island Seaside Museum for the exhibition opening of Ngā Pakiwaitara O Matariki: Māori storytelling amongst the stars. Celebrate International Make Music Day and Matariki, the Māori New Year, with a unique blend of music and culture.
Experience the melodious sounds of Māori music with Julian Ratana and Te Aukaha Māori Performing Arts. Take a mystical Journey to the Stars and enjoy the Taonga Pūoro instruments. Try traditional Māori stick games like Tititorea and Ti Rakau.
The morning will also feature an invigorating Kapa Haka performance, showcasing the Māori essence. Enjoy the flavour of Māori Kai/food during this family-friendly experience.
Celebrate music and culture with us and discover the connections between Māori heritage, music, and dance.
Make Music Month
City of Moreton Bay's Make Music Month is back and featuring a line-up of solo and duo acts. All 16 of Council’s galleries, museums, and libraries come alive with rhythm and tunes in June for Make Music Month. Enjoy free events, live performances, jam sessions, workshops, and more as we put music on the map.
