June is Make Music Month, and City of Moreton Bay is celebrating with free live music at our galleries, libraries, and museums.

As part of the festivities, Strathpine Library will host the People’s Marimba, a public access instrument for everyone to enjoy.

Throughout the month, stop by and play a tune, whether it’s your favourite song or something you’ve been practising. The marimba will be available during library opening hours for anyone to have a go.

Professional musician Bernie Lynch will also perform on the People’s Marimba:

  • Wednesday, 11 June at 10:30 AM
  • Friday, 27 June at 10:30 AM.

A few important details about the People’s Marimba:

  • The marimba is on wheels and may pop up in different spots throughout the month.
  • Children are welcome to play, but a parent or guardian must supervise them and follow requests from library staff.
  • You’re welcome to play a song or two, but we ask that you be respectful of other library visitors.
  • There may be brief moments when the piano is unavailable due to library programs.
  • Library staff are on hand to assist with any questions.

Make Music Month

City of Moreton Bay's Make Music Month is back and featuring a line-up of solo and duo acts. All 16 of Council’s galleries, museums, and libraries come alive with rhythm and tunes in June for Make Music Month. Enjoy free events, live performances, jam sessions, workshops, and more as we put music on the map.
