Flights of fancy: Sculpture making workshop | Kallangur

Join local artists Elizabeth and Authur Bach for a morning of sculpture-making at the Kallangur Neighbourhood Centre.

During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the art of sculpting using air-dry clay and materials sourced straight from nature!

Begin by spending time searching for materials and finding the character within. You might find something in yourself that you've never noticed before. 

Then, using your materials, unleash your inner artist and sense of humour, as you create a fun, whimsical character or twig bird.

Guided by our experts, you’ll explore various techniques to shape, bind, and give life to your woodland art.

Give your sculptured friend a name, invent their life story and even start a conversation with them. See how text can become part of your art.

This workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike. Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill or express your creativity, you’ll find joy in sculpting your one-of-a-kind character!

About your hosts

Elizabeth Bach

Elizabeth Bach is a Moreton Bay-based artist. Since graduating from Queensland College of Art in 1997, she has had works in group and solo exhibitions, locally and nationally. Her art explores repetition, sameness, and difference, often in a botanical theme. She was a finalist in MBRC Outdoor Gallery 2022, and winner of the MBRC Art Awards in 2016.

Arthur Bach

After a long career in architectural design and drafting, retirement has enabled Arthur to renew his creative self, thinking inside and outside the box. Arthur’s work is a thought provoking, humorous form of art. His twig-based sculpted birds expand creativity to involvement and emotional relationships. They enable conversations not previously attributed to inanimate objects. Arthur has been a finalist in the MBRC Art Awards and has had solo and group exhibitions in the Caboolture, Pine Rivers and Childers art galleries.
