Threads of Connection at the Woodford Lantern Parade

Next date: Saturday, 30 November 2024 | 03:00 PM to 06:30 PM

A women is surrounded by pieces of colourful material. her head is showing, she is smiling and wearing glasses.

Local artist Shan Michaels is interested in all the ways we are connected to:

  • people
  • other living beings
  • special places and spaces.

Shan has created a colourful textile sculpture called Threads of Connection as a way of making these invisible connections visible.

Everyone is invited to participate in Threads of Connection. You can:

  • decorate pieces of fabric with paint pens, and draw or write about your own important connections or what, who or where makes you feel connected
  • make your invisible bonds visible by tying, weaving, plaiting or knotting your pieces of fabric onto the growing sculpture
  • wrap yourself and your friends in the sculpture’s giant threads and take a selfie.

Created by Shan.

This activation will be happening during the Woodford Lantern Parade.
