Wonder Wagon as Identity Cafe and Threads of Connection

During the Anywhere Festival, The Wonder Wagon will offer two hands-on creative experiences.

On one side, you can visit The Identity Cafe – a place where you transform the ordinary into the extraordinary! We invite you and your friends to choose and try on a stunning full-face mask. Every mask is full of potential stories. And, when you put a mask on, you will uncover an entirely new character hidden within you. What character will you become? What is your secret backstory?

While you’re here, keep an eye out for the Lollipop Ladies. These quirky characters invite passers-by to see the world with wonder and delight.

The Identify Café is a unique experience you won't find anywhere else. Before you go, strike a pose and take a selfie as a souvenir of your masked alter-ego. Created and facilitated by Homunculus Theatre

On the other side of the Wonder Wagon you will find the work of local artist Shan Michaels. Shan is interested in all the ways we are connected to:

  • people
  • other living beings
  • special places and spaces.

Shan has created a colourful textile sculpture called Threads of Connection as a way of making these invisible connections visible. Everyone is invited to take part in Threads of Connection. You can:

  • Decorate pieces of fabric with paint pens and draw or write about your own important connections or what, who or where makes you feel connected.
  • Make your invisible bonds visible by tying, weaving, plaiting or knotting your pieces of fabric onto the growing sculpture.
  • Wrap yourself and your friends in the sculpture’s giant threads and take a selfie.

Created by Shan Michaels.
