Join us in the Art Tasters workshop series to learn different art mediums and techniques with an artist each month.

Saturday 22 March: Discover the world of cyanotype with Renata Buziak
In this hands-on workshop you will create your own unique photographic print without a camera – using plants, found objects, and sunlight.
You will gain skills to continue experimenting with this captivating art form at home.
Immerse yourself in the creative process as the artist Renata Buziak guides you through the entire process, from preparing the materials to developing your very own unique cyanotype prints on cotton and paper.
Bring your own small objects on the day to add a personal touch.
About the artist: Renata Buziak is a biochrome photo-media artist, researcher, and educator with more than 15 years of teaching experience. Renata regularly facilitates cyanotype and other workshops at schools, galleries and other venues, for children and adults. With a focus on plant life and helping people to reconnect with nature, her biochrome artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Renata holds a PhD from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Her art has received several awards and is featured in private and public collections, and on ABC TV’s Gardening Australia.
Saturday 26 April: Botanical watercolours with Holly Neilson
Join artist Holly Neilson as you learn about botanical watercolour painting in a relaxing workshop. Be guided through the fundamentals of painting with watercolour, simple brushstrokes techniques and helpful colour theory to help you achieve the perfect botanical colour tones.
Participants will have the opportunity to paint and design their own unique botanical artwork.
About the artist: Holly Neilson is a Brisbane-based freelance illustrator and creator of Paper Hands. Growing up by the sea and in close proximity to the rainforests, Holly’s love for nature and relationship with the wild grew immensely. Throughout her life, Holly has used art as a vessel to help navigate her own mental health journey. Her work depicts a collaboration between her environment and the individual, exploring the power of regeneration.
Saturday 24 May: iPhone at the ready with Carl Warner
Dive into the tools and settings of your iPhone camera to help you capture and edit photographs that will take your photography to a new level with artist Carl Warner.
Learn about composition, perspective and exposure as you take eye-catching photos with your phone. Discover how to link your photos together into narratives that tell a story as you explore the local area.
About the artist: Carl Warner is an artist, photographer and lecturer based in Brisbane. He is well-known for his abstract compositions and photographic assemblages derived from urban surfaces, the materiality of public space and the contested spaces of landscape. He uses the camera to record the detail he observes in the urban, industrial and natural environment. Carl completed a PhD researching visual systems such as the Claude glass, camera lucida and camera obscura, used to aid the drawn and painted pre-photographic representation of landscape and illustration of the natural sciences.
Saturday 14 June: Ceramic bowl surface design with Anna Guthrie
Learn about clay monoprinting techniques with artist Anna Guthrie.
Experiment with layering, texture and print transfer methods on a premade ceramic bowl, and design a one-of-a-kind art piece. After the workshop, Anna will take your bowl and fire it, to be collected at the gallery once ready.
About the artist: Anna Guthrie is a local professional ceramic artist passionate about innovative ceramic techniques and helping participants explore their artistic creativity through monoprinting and surface design. Her work explores the interplay between walking, experience, and artistic expression. By weaving her personal encounters and reflections into her art, she offers viewers a unique perspective on the landscape, inviting them to form a deeper connection with the natural and built environment.
