Kids workshop: Dog tag jewellery making

Next date: Thursday, 16 January 2025 | 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Two examples of silver dog tag pendants

Channel your inner rebel and create tough, adventure-ready pieces straight out of a post-apocalyptic world!

Under the guide of Silversmith Jemica Ostrofski, learn how to design and fabricate custom textured dog tags using recycled aluminium. The basic metalsmithing techniques of mark making will be explored using various hammers, letter stamps, number stamps and other tools.

Take home a key ring, or a dog tag style necklace to punk up your style with a one-of-a-kind piece!

This workshop requires parents/guardians to support the creative process for children under 10 years old. Cost $5. Bookings required.

About the artist

Meekz Contemporary Jewellery is the independent label of Brisbane-based silversmith Jemica Ostrofski.

In 2009 Jemica graduated from the Queensland College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Art with First Class Honours, after majoring in Gold and Silversmithing and gaining a passion for minimalist sculptural forms.

Adopting an ethically responsible and environmentally focused practice, she uses traditional silversmithing techniques such as hand sawing, etching and oxidising to create statement pieces that can be worn every day.
