Join the Dead Puppet Society these school holidays in a puppet construction workshop.

You will learn how to design and build your very own tabletop-sized puppet inspired by the Maximum Madness: Art inspired by Mad Max exhibition.

Using simple brown paper techniques and household materials, participants will create a one-of-a-kind character. Once constructed, participants will have the opportunity to work together to bring their character to life using the Dead Puppet Society principles of puppetry.

This workshop will include character design, construction of articulated puppet skeletons, experimentation with simple puppet mechanisms, and exploration of puppet manipulation skills.

The program is suitable for children of all abilities aged 8 to 15 years. Bookings required. Parents are welcome to join in or relax in the gallery.

All materials are provided.

About the artists

Dead Puppet Society is a Brisbane-based international production and design house creating deeply imaginative visual theatre, public art, and sculpture, combining timeless craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.

They collaborate with world class arts companies and creatives to produce large-scale design-led visual theatre works that shake up genres, incorporating contemporary methods of puppetry and pushing the boundaries of design-led theatre.

Off stage, Dead Puppet Society creates visually compelling experiences and activations for events and public spaces, from one-of-a-kind, laser-cut artefacts and open-air performances to large-scale installations, unique training and professional development for young people and artists, as well as creating exquisite, custom-made sculptures.
