Exhibition opening: Deep Blue

9 Nov 2024 | 11:00 AM - 01:00 PM

Deranji and Goompi cyanotypes on cotton by Sonja and Elisa Jane Carmichael.

Dive into Deep Blue at this special family-friendly opening event.

Explore the ways that art can foster connection, how creativity can be a collaborative experience, and immerse yourself in the wonderous work of Elisa Jane and Sonja Carmichael.

Sonja Carmichael and Elisa Jane Carmichael are Ngugi woman from Minjerribah, on Quandamooka Country. Whilst artists in their own right, they often collaborate. Working together as mother and daughter, their shared practice draws from knowledge passed down from their ancestors.

This opening provides an opportunity to learn about Sonja and Elisa Jane's varied practice, exploring cyanotype, weaving, basketry, knowledge-sharing and working towards a revived, contemporary Quandamooka weaving practice.

Deep Blue is the second in a series of exhibitions focused on wellbeing. It invites you to discover how making and experiencing art together can strengthen bonds and spark creativity.

Free. RSVPs strongly encouraged.
