Ochre painting workshop for kids with Melinda Serico

First Nations ochre painting
Join us this NAIDOC week at Redcliffe Art Gallery for a special ochre painting workshop with Kabi Kabi artist Melinda Serico.
 
Melinda will introduce participants to natural ochre pigments, talk about the traditional uses of ochre and where it can be found.
 
Participants will then be guided through the process of mixing the ochre and creating a painting to take home.
 
Each participant will receive a take home bag that includes four colours of ochre, glue, and a canvas board.
 
Please note that ochre can be quite messy so it will be best for participants to wear clothes they don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Ochre is a natural earth pigment that will not easily wash out of clothing so please keep this in mind.
 
Cost $10 - bookings required.
