Patricia Piccinini Paste-ups: 52 ACTIONS
23 Nov 2024
- 15 Feb 2025
As part of the 52 ACTIONS exhibition at Redcliffe Art Gallery, you can discover a series of paste-up posters by acclaimed artist Patricia Piccinini.
These posters will be displayed at various venues in City of Moreton Bay, including Redcliffe Museum, Redcliffe Library, and North Lakes Library.
Each of Piccinini’s posters pairs an image with a thought-provoking question about humanity, technology, and relationships. As Piccinini says, “these posters stand out among the visual clutter, making us think rather than trying to sell us something.”
Piccinini created these posters during the 2020-21 lockdowns when she noticed empty spaces where concert posters used to be in. She saw these spaces as an opportunity to ask important questions and engage with her community.
One of the posters depicts a hybrid creature, part bat and part human, with the question, “Is there room in our hearts?” This artwork, made during COVID-19, asks if we can reconnect with others without fear and appreciate the value of different beings, even something as odd as a bat. It reminds us that although we are all different, we share the same world and must learn to live together.
