Join us as we look slowly at art in our gallery spaces.
The practice of slow looking takes its cues from mindfulness; taking time to be present in the gallery, to connect to the artworks.
Each session will be a gentle, guided experience that allows participants to meet art on their own terms, without the need for prior knowledge of contemporary or historical art. There are no wrong responses on this tour.
We’ll be looking at just a handful of works, savouring quality over quantity. At each stop, your guide will invite you to engage with the artwork through prompts and exercises that focus your attention and help you to consider the work more deeply. In this way, we’ll discover more details, draw greater meaning, and consider our own emotional responses.
As our world seems to run ever-quicker, give yourself and your brain the break it deserves.
Stools will be provided on this tour so that you can view the work for longer periods. Please let us know if you require a seat with a back.
The gallery is kept at 21C for artwork preservation. Please consider bringing a warmer layer to be comfortable in the space.
Slow Looking Tours are available weekly at Pine Rivers, Caboolture and Redcliffe art galleries. Free - bookings required.
To organise a group booking, reach out to our galleries so we can offer you the best possible experience at a time that suits. Bookings for groups of 10+ people are essential, please contact the gallery directly:
