Library welcome with open doors

The early bird gets the worm, or in this case the bookworm!

Due to popular demand Moreton Bay Region’s libraries will be opening earlier in 2020.

Acting Mayor Mike Charlton said contrary to popular belief, demand for literature is increasing in the digital age.

“We’ve invested heavily across all our libraries to make sure they’re state-of-the-art facilities for reading, learning and discovering our universe through the world of words,” he said.

“So from this year 10 libraries across the region will be opening from 8:30 AM.

“It might only seem like a small change from the current 9:00 AM opening, but that extra time could make the difference in someone’s day.

“From students being able to study earlier, parents dropping in before school or those on their way to work, everyone can benefit from extended opening hours.

“If you haven’t been into a library recently, the school holidays are the perfect time to check out the impressive digital resources and relaxation spaces we have available.

“And as the mercury continues to rise this summer, our air-conditioned libraries are the perfect place to retreat from the heat.

“This administrative change is just another way we’re ensuring our amenities keep pace with the expectations of Moreton Bay locals.

“Council is committed to providing the best service to residents by keeping library doors open longer.”

Moreton Bay libraries are located in Arana Hills, Albany Creek, Bribie Island, Burpengary, Caboolture, Deception Bay, North Lakes, Redcliffe, Strathpine and Woodford.
