Moreton Bay Regional Council is sealing the road to recovery, this week announcing three new projects under its $1 million Gravel to Sealed Roads program.

The additions will see roads sealed in Elimbah and Laceys Creek, along with design for a project in Mount Delaney, before the end of the financial year.

Mayor Peter Flannery said Council is already getting to work on our unsealed roads network.

“Council has doubled the Gravel to Sealed roads program budget this financial year to help keep crews on the tools and improve road quality in the more remote reaches of our region,” he said.

“Right now crews are working to seal roads in Ningi before moving to areas like Stanmore, Wamuran, Mount Glorious and Dayboro.

“The reality of our growing population is that there are more vehicles on our roads, which means more wear and tear.

“And as much as our drought-declared areas are enjoying the recent rains, that water can have devastating effects on unsealed roads.

“These projects will help reduce dust for residents, improve roads for vehicles, limit the impacts of severe weather to unsealed rural roads and keep residents connected right across Moreton Bay.

“Accelerating works for sealing roads is investing in our roads network and investing in local jobs for the benefit of the whole of Moreton Bay Region.”
