Bursary Backing Our Next Generation of Female Leaders

If you know an outstanding local woman who inspires her community as a local leader, then Moreton Bay Regional Council wants you to nominate her for the coveted National Council of Women of Queensland (NCWQ) 2020 Bursary Program prize. 

Applications are now open to full-time students in the Moreton Bay Region who are able to demonstrate a commitment to leadership in the community. 

Deputy Mayor Denise Sims said the winner would receive $1000 to help with their studies and kickstart their career. 

“Every year I’m floored by the calibre of entries and how much these incredible local women manage to achieve in their spare time while working and studying,” she said. 

“I’m advised that the inaugural winner from 2014, then 18-year-old Erin Cunningham, has since gone on to become a judge’s associate at the Federal Circuit Court of Australia in Brisbane. 

“That was after she worked with us at Council, and achieved some remarkable things along the way. 

“Council has strongly supported the NCWQ Bursary Program ever since then because we know the impact it has on the lives and careers of some amazing women, and we want to see them succeed. 

“I encourage every eligible recipient to put their best foot forward by making an application, who knows where it could take you?”
