Pop Up Play Space

Want to get the kids out of the house, but don’t want to battle the heat? Our libraries are here to help!

From today until Friday 26 February, families with children aged five years and under can use the mobile play experience at Caboolture Library, before it moves to Redcliffe, and other libraries through the first half of 2021.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the new indoor Pop Up Play Space (PUPS) was the perfect place to play in air conditioned comfort and out of the sun’s harmful rays.

“Our PUPS gives children and their parents or carers the chance to have some fun and let their imagination run wild with various themed elements,” Mayor Flannery said.

“We’ve literally brought books to life in a 3-dimensional interactive play space, it’s really impressive.

“Kids can pretend to be pirates sailing the high seas on a boat, construct a Lego wall from scratch and catch fish using magnetic rods - all while they crawl, spin and jump through the 72 square meters sized play space.

“We know PUPS will be a huge hit with families as we’ve literally built it from their feedback.

“We took the best ideas from the Festival of Play forum held in February in partnership with the State Library of Queensland and created the ultimate learning playground for our kids.

“Play has the incredible ability to grow imagination, build motor skills, and support language and cognitive development through experimentation and problem solving. And all without even realising it!

“You know the old saying; time flies when you’re having fun, well in this case, little minds can be exercised when they’re having fun!

“Our libraries are open and operating in line with the State Government’s COVID Safe Plan, and we appreciate your help in maintaining social distancing and showing respect to staff and visitors during this busy festive season.”
