Ditch the screens for more fun and head outdoors with Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Autumn Active Holidays program which is jam-packed with high-energy activities for kids aged 2-17.
Mark your calendars, bookings open at 11am on Thursday 23 March for the Autumn Active Holidays program, which runs from April 3-16.
Mayor Peter Flannery said there’s more than 100 free or low-cost activities for the kids to stay active, including dodgeball, boxing, softball, table tennis, rugby, tennis, gymnastics, archery, stand up paddling, surfing, skateboarding, fitness games and more!
“Our Active Holidays program brings children together to play and be active, develop skills and socialise during the school holidays in a safe and inclusive environment,” Mayor Flannery said.
“There are so many wildly different activities from circus workshops to hip hop and breakdancing workshops to girls empowerment classes.
“And the amazing thing is that most activities are free or only cost a maximum of $5 per child, which is great value for Moreton Bay locals.
“Having access to affordable activities provides opportunities for our communities to make healthy and active lifestyle choices and makes our Moreton Bay a healthier and happier place to live.
“All activities are operated by qualified instructors in our local parks and facilities across the region, providing a fun-filled school holiday.
“Council’s libraries, galleries, museums, and environmental centres will also be holding school holiday workshops and activities over the two weeks.
“From Wonders of Nature shows to edible science experiments, as well as more crafty sessions such as make a dream catcher, decorate a t-shirt and many more activities.
“Teenagers can also get involved with a range of Queensland Youth Week (11-17 April) events in the region including singing and fishing competitions or grab your friends and chill out at the Big Arvo at Bribie Island.
“There’s nothing better than watching your kids having fun, learning new skills and making friends, so make sure you get to Council’s website and check out the schedule of activities before they book out!”
