Gnarly land to well-loved Albany Creek Skate Park

Skaters, scooters, BMX riders and rollerbladers can enjoy upgrades at the Albany Creek Skate Park, thanks to Council’s $1.7 million park refurbishment now open.
Mayor Peter Flannery said he is thrilled to welcome back local riders to experience the enhanced park.
“The significant skate park upgrade offers a safe, modern, and enjoyable environment for skaters of all ages and skill levels,” he said.
“Ahead of the Olympics and Paralympics, we’ve been rolling out the gold medal treatment to our local skate parks in Deception Bay, Albany Creek and soon in Morayfield.
“The new Albany Creek Skate Park features a modern open spine bowl and exciting new street style obstacles including ledges, rails, and banks for all skill levels. We've also introduced new terraced seats with a shade shelter, and USB outlets are available for phone charging.
“This project reflects our commitment to providing high-quality recreational spaces that foster a love of the outdoors, community spaces, and healthy lifestyles.”
Councillor Matt Constance (Div 10) said he’s stoked to see this modernised skate park open for everyone to enjoy.
“This state-of-the-art skate park has been shaped by extensive community consultation and caters to both the current and future needs of our local community and skate park users,” he said.
“Council’s investment ensures that the Albany Creek State Park will serve our community for years to come.
“Special thanks to Councillor Tonks (Div 9) for helping advocate for this upgrade in our local area, and to the award-winning team of experts who brought this safe, social and innovative park to life.
“As a contemporary and family-friendly space, the park will once again become a vibrant hub that will serve our community in the years ahead. Who knows, we might even see the next generation of Olympians honing their skills right here in Moreton Bay.”
Local Rumble Pro Tour Skateboarding and Skate Australia Development Squad member Jack Lewis said he’s excited about the new upgrade at Albany Creek.
“I’d love to get to the 2028 Olympics in LA and of course Brisbane in 2032,” he said.
“We have competition training at least 10 to 15 hours a week, so it's awesome to have a new place close to home for that.
“Deception Bay skate park has become a great training spot since the works there, and I think I’m going to really use this one too. I'm definitely keen for the new skate park opening in Morayfield as well.
“The new charging points and lights here are great—it means I can skate at night without worrying about my phone running out of battery!”
The Albany Creek Skate Park upgrade is part of Council’s broader Skate Park Renewal Program to enhance skate parks across Moreton Bay.
