City of Moreton Bay is bringing live performances to locations anywhere but a theatre this 9 - 26 May, with the 2024 Anywhere Festival program that will entertain, intrigue and excite.
Mayor Peter Flannery said this year will feature talented local performers from Moreton Bay and beyond performing in places like tattoo parlours, breweries, parks, hair salons, a winery and more.
“City of Moreton Bay will come alive with dance, comedy, musical theatre, circus, immersive installations, storytelling, cabaret, classical music plus more in all kinds of local business and community spaces,” he said.
“Tickets start from as little as $15 with many venues offering food and drink options and free parking to ensure a great night out.
“This is the fourth year that Council has partnered with Anywhere Festival to bring local performing artists, local businesses and community places together to celebrate entertainment, creativity and imagination and I encourage residents to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere.”
Festival highlights this year include, No Exit, where three strangers and a valet meet in a mysterious room, or Songs for Absent Beauty, where songwriters tell stories about a world obsessed with appearances.
Music lovers will enjoy, Guitarra y Cuarteto, a concert featuring flamenco guitar and string quartet, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, musical theatre with a dollop of naughty fun or Whistling Past the Graveyard, songs and stories about funerals and the end of life.
For big laughs get along to This is Your Trial, where ordinary people bring their petty grievances to ‘court’, or catch The Birds & the Bees, a cheeky science comedy about pollination.
There are plenty more acts to check out every Saturday during the festival, plus free creative pop-up events in different parts of City of Moreton Bay for everyone to enjoy.
If you fancy yourself as a performer, you can join in and be a part of the fun with The Wonder Wagon’s The Melodium, a music-making installation, or be part of the Moreton Bay Body Percussion Orchestra. For more information and to book tickets, visit the Anywhere Festival page
