Anywhere Festival to light up unexpected Moreton Bay venues

Moreton Bay Regional Council is bringing live performance to you and your neighbourhood as part of one of Queensland’s most unique festivals between May 13 and June 4, 2023.
Mayor Peter Flannery said this year’s Anywhere Festival program consisted of 22 free events and 22 paid events across 28 venues that include local parks, breweries, cafes, a winery, museums, libraries, a tattoo parlour, and more.
“Anywhere Festival brings theatre, live music, dance, comedy, circus and all kinds of performance to spaces and places you wouldn’t expect to see live entertainment,” he said.
“Not only does a festival like this provide awesome events to attend locally, but it brings our streets alive and makes Moreton Bay a more vibrant place to live.
“This is the third year that Council has partnered with Anywhere Festival to deliver a program that’s packed with entertaining, quirky, and imaginative experiences and events.
“This year features a fantastic line-up of performances including a cabaret about Katy Perry fandom to arias sung acapella, the Scottish version of a bush dance, First Nations storytelling, comedies about high school reunions and so much more!
“The festival kicks off on Saturday May 13 with a full day of live performances at North Lakes Library and The Deck and continues for three weeks with events popping up all over the region from Bribie Island to the Hills District and many locations in between.
“One of the highlights of this year’s festival is The Wonder Wagon, a travelling troupe of wild and wonderful artists providing locals with an opportunity to get hands on and create their own pieces of art.
“The festival will culminate in the grand finale event at the Redcliffe Amphitheatre on June 4 with a full day of free performances and interactive creative activities that are great fun for the whole family to enjoy.
“This is just one way we can help support our local performers by giving them an avenue to showcase their brilliant work without the financial burden of hiring a venue.
“This is just one of hundreds of free or low-cost events Council puts on all year round through our Community Events program, our Arts and Culture, and Healthy Active Moreton program.
“We want to make Moreton Bay one of the most vibrant places to live and visit so that when the world comes to our doorstep for the 2032 Olympic & Paralympic Games they’re left with a lasting impression to come back!
“The full program has officially launched so get online and check out the Anywhere Festival 2023 program to plan your social calendar.”
