City of Moreton Bay is helping to ensure the spirit of Anzac Day lives on locally by supporting RSL sub-branches and community groups across the city to host services and marches this 25 April.

Council has committed over $72,000 over three years (2023-2025) through the Community Operational Support Grant program, which is distributed between various groups to fund the logistical costs of running Anzac Day events.

Mayor Peter Flannery said that this being the second year of funding has ensured security for these commemorative events, and there are many within the community for residents to attend.

“Anzac Day is an important day for us to come together as a community to pause and reflect on the sacrifice our brave service women and men have made for our country,” he said.

“As a former service person, I’m both proud and humbled to see so many Anzac Day services from our local community associations across our city receive this financial and logistical support.

“The Anzac spirit lives on in the faces of all the people, young and old, who take the time to pay their respects at these services and marches.”

Make sure to check out the new Ink in the Lines exhibition at the Redcliffe Museum until Sunday 12 May 2024. The exhibition showcases Australia’s modern veterans and their families, who through their tattoos commemorate the people, events and experiences that shaped their lives.
