Boost for local rugby club at Redcliffe

Moreton Bay Regional Council is continuing its commitment to local sport with the construction of a modern club house and facilities at Ray Frawley Fields for the Redcliffe Rugby Union Club.
Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Division Six councillor, Rae Frawley, said work on the new facility had been timed to start at the end of the rugby season to minimise disruption to the club.
“The redevelopment will deliver a new building with large wrap-around verandahs, a clubroom, commercial kitchen, canteen, bar, office and amenities,” Cr Frawley said.
"Future stages of the redevelopment in coming years are likely to include new change rooms for home and away teams, storage and referee rooms as well as a car park.
“The fields are a big part of the rugby family on the Redcliffe Peninsula with the new facilities expected to deliver a psychological boost for the Seasnakes in their quest for continued domination in 2012.
"With three grand final and one premiership trophy in the cabinet, the Seasnakes already have the points on the board and by the start of next season they'll have a new clubhouse to boot.
"This is a breakthrough for not only rugby on the peninsula, but also softball and cricket who also use the fields.
“It demonstrates Moreton Bay Regional Council's on-going commitment to grass-roots sport across the region."
