City of Moreton Bay has today launched its innovation ecosystem program to power its business community into the future.
Mayor Peter Flannery announced Council’s new partner, Creative HQ, and informed a gathering of business leaders at The Mill innovation precinct of how they will support Council in delivering innovation programming to support start-up and scale-up businesses as the economy grows to $40 billion and 16,000 new businesses by 2041.
“Innovate Moreton Bay has significantly grown the city’s innovation ecosystem and supported more than 2,000 local businesses, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Now it’s time to take things to the next level,” said Mayor Flannery.
Mayor Flannery expressed excitement at the opportunities that the newly appointed Creative HQ will bring to the table, delivered by their on-the-ground resources.
Creative HQ’s Chief Executive, Catherine Jones, echoed Mayor Flannery’s sentiment.
“We are excited for the opportunity to work with City of Moreton Bay in boosting the city’s innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities”, Ms Jones said.
“Since 2003, Creative HQ has supported over 42,000 people through programs, including 492 startups and 44 government agencies across 9 countries. We bring expertise and delivery capability which will expand the skills of local startups and entrepreneurs.
“City of Moreton Bay has a strong presence as a progressive Council which prioritises innovation, and we look forward to working together,” Ms Jones concluded.
City of Moreton Bay has built a strong business relationship with New Zealand over the last few years, from being the home base for the New Zealand Warriors during COVID-19, to delivering a range of trade missions that yielded new export contracts, and hosting a range of inbound trade missions from New Zealand. The new opportunity with Creative HQ takes this relationship to the next level and allows City of Moreton Bay businesses to tap into their global contact list of venture capital, investors and technology industry contacts.
The Innovate Moreton Bay program includes signature events, capacity building workshops and networking opportunities for City of Moreton Bay businesses, startups and entrepreneurs.
Creative HQ’s first exciting event will be the Startup World Cup in City of Moreton Bay which will call on startups across South East Queensland to step up and showcase their potential.
“Our City’s Economic Strategy has the ambitious goal of our city being known as a top 10 innovation hub, and Innovate Moreton Bay powered by Creative HQ will help bring this aspiration to life”, Mayor Flannery said.
