Skaters and BMX riders, get ready - Morayfield Skate Park is set to open on Saturday 22 February.

Freshly revamped and expanded, this upgraded skate park is going to be bigger, better and built for active fun!

Mayor Peter Flannery encouraged skaters far and wide to bring their boards, roller skates or BMX bikes for the opening celebration on 22 February from 10am.

“As our City grows, it’s essential to invest in spaces where locals can find new hobbies, connect with friends, and pursue their passions.

“This skate park has received a fantastic $1.9 million upgrade, offering larger, improved spaces to support the growing area.

“Morayfield is a key site as part of our Skate Park Renewal Program, which is designed to improve amenities and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.

“I’m equally looking forward to seeing the transformations of our other sites at Dayboro and North Lakes as well.”

Councillor Adam Hain (Division 3) said it’s important to have great local amenities to support the growing community.

“Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, each element of the Morayfield Skate Park has been crafted to challenge and excite Moreton Bay skaters and riders.

“This is another free space for the community to enjoy, which is especially important right now considering the cost-of-living pressures our local residents are experiencing.

“Now that it’s finally time to hit the ramps, I hope everyone can come down and be part of the action at our free opening event on 22 February.

“To really kick it off, there’ll be an action-packed day of pro skaters showing off their best moves, live music, a free sausage sizzle and the chance to learn some new tricks.”

Key features of the skate park upgrade include:

  • Intermediate-level bowl mini bowl and ramp linking two bowls
  • Open plaza area with street-style obstacles
  • Quarter pipes
  • New vert ramp with spectator seating
  • Large seating areas
  • Improved pathways and shade throughout the park
  • Drinking fountains and lighting
