Construction on a $230,000 drop in centre for the community will begin at Woodford Memorial Park from early February.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Division 12 Councillor Adrian Raedel said the 175m² drop in centre would be an important facility, providing a social and support network for the community and a home for the Woodford RSL sub-branch.
“It’s going to be a fantastic space for the community, and a place where former and serving defence personnel can spend time and access information relating to topics such a veterans affairs,” Cr Raedel said.
“Woodford Memorial Park, with its military memorabilia and traditions, is the perfect home for the drop in centre.”
The drop in centre will include amenities, two offices and open hall space. The project also includes an access road, bio retention basin and water storage tank.
The centre is due for completion in May 2013, weather permitting.
