Multiple not-for-profit associations have been awarded tenders to manage seven community halls as part of its recent hall management review.

Successful tenderers for an initial term of three years are:

  1. Woodford Memorial Hall - Woodford Memorial Community Centre Inc.
  2. Wamuran Sports Complex Hall - Lions Club of Wamuran Inc.
  3. Toorbul Community Hall - Toorbul Community and District Association Inc.
  4. Mt Glorious Community Hall - Mt Glorious Community Association Inc.
  5. Delaneys Creek Community Hall - Delaneys Creek Community Hall Inc.
  6. Mt Mee Public Hall - Mt Mee Public Hall Inc.
  7. Bunya House - Bunya House Inc.

Mayor Peter Flannery said Council received a number of quality responses to the market tenders which were assessed against strict criteria and accepted by Council.

“Groups that manage our halls, many of which are made up of volunteers, do a tremendous job and we wouldn’t be able to provide this service to the community without them,” Mayor Flannery said.

“Halls are valuable assets to the community and provide a space for commercial and private groups to come together for activities, meetings and functions.

In 2020, Council delivered a Community Halls Network Plan which recommended a full review of the management model for its 45 community halls. The review was recently completed in consultation with key community stakeholders.

“Council’s review included changes to maintenance responsibilities, fee structure and outlines an easier way for the public to hire facilities through an online booking system on Council’s website,” Mayor Flannery said.

“This frees up the organisations managing the halls to do what they do best and activate the space to get the most from the facility.

“Council looks forward to working with these groups and delivering a streamlined approach to hall management that best fits our community's needs.”

Council will be seeking tenderers for the management of a further 28 community halls in the coming months and will be advertised through Council’s e-procure process.
