Congratulations to five local artists and community organisations who will share in more than $44,000 worth of funding for arts, culture and heritage projects throughout City of Moreton Bay.
Recipients of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Round 2 will have the opportunity to bring their creative projects to life and further their artistic goals, following a competitive assessment process.
Mayor Peter Flannery said Council is proud to support the growing arts and cultural industry in Moreton Bay.
“I’m thrilled Council can support local artists of various disciplines to pursue projects that without our support might not get off the ground,” he said.
“Our partnership with the Queensland Government for the RADF grants shows strong commitment to and investment in creative places, people and projects to build a vibrant community.
“More and more artists are being supported through City of Moreton Bay’s RADF grants each year and the diversity of creative projects is broader than ever before.
“The RADF grants not only provide support to our local artists, but also result in quality creative experiences that bring our community together to celebrate and engage with different cultures, stories and people.
“This year we’ve invested $130,272 across 42 projects through the RADF 2023-24 program.
“From the most recent grant round we are thrilled to support exciting projects in Moreton Bay including:
- $8,000 to Briony Edgar for the Salt and Steel Business Mentoring and Product Release Project
- $6,000 to Chelsea Lomandra for a Studio Lomandra Community Connections Podcast
- $15,000 to Introspect Theatre Company Inc. for Maria the Musical
- $6,392 to Julie Chenery for Dance for Seniors for Falls Prevention and Wellbeing
- $9,483 to Louise Mayhew for the Pilot of Audio/Video reviews for Lemonade: Letters to Art
“We want artists and creatives to know there’s opportunity right here in City of Moreton Bay - from the professional development programs we offer with Cultivate the Arts events through to performing in the popular Anywhere Festival.
“We know that being creative and engaging with any form of art can enhance your wellbeing, which is why it’s so important that we continue to build the capacity and opportunities for artists and creatives right here in Moreton Bay.”
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Queensland Government’s successful, long-term partnership with local governments through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) supports the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences, employment opportunities and capacity building for arts and cultural workers across the state.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen local communities and drive economic outcomes through arts and culture, the Queensland Government has provided $2.184 million for RADF 2023-24 to 59 local councils who have contributed a co-investment of $1.979 million,” Minister Enoch said.
“The Queensland Government’s Creative Together 2020-2030 roadmap prioritises activation of Queensland’s places and spaces and arts engagement that drives positive change for Queensland communities. Projects funded through RADF support communities to share stories and creativity, provide important pathways for learning and connection, and boost local creative economies and tourism.”
