Have your say: Final draft for future plan released
Published 15 February 2023
The long-term strategies that will guide Council’s ambitions for the future have been released for public consultation, with a strong focus on making sure the region goes green as our population grows.
Mayor Flannery said that this strategic direction was a direct result of feedback provided by our communities who have participated in a number of community engagement activities over the last 18 months.
“I want to thank everyone for their invaluable feedback and very clear desire to preserve our lifestyle and environment for future generations, I hope these draft strategies align with your expectations,” he said.
“If you haven’t been involved yet, you still can now. Make sure you jump online and let us know your thoughts on our draft strategy documents, they will be the foundations for Council’s success over the decades to come.
“We have already adopted our Corporate Plan for the next five years and these strategies outline how we will deliver on your ambitions over the long term as well as the benchmarks and targets we’re setting for Council.
“Yes, they are detailed and lengthy documents, but they are absolutely critical to ensuring we get the foundations right now for the challenges ahead.
“Growth is happening all around us and we expect that to continue with more than 200,000 people projected to move to our Moreton Bay region over the next 20 years.
“That brings with it opportunities to provide increased access to services and facilities, practice sustainability, deliver well-planned and connected places and spaces and create a progressive and robust economy.
“Overwhelmingly we know you want to celebrate our vibrant communities, protect and enhance our natural spaces, and support sustainable lifestyles, but it’s essential that you review these draft documents to make sure we’re on the right track.
“This is just another way Council is working with its residents and involving our communities as we shape the future of our Moreton Bay.”
Community feedback is open until Sunday 19 March 2023. For more information and to have your say, please visit Council’s Your Say website.
