City of Moreton Bay is aware of incorrect public comments about the future of Lakeside Park and Council’s commitment to the motor sport industry in our city.

Council owns the Lakeside site, and at yesterday’s General Meeting, and at its December 2024 General Meeting, reiterated its position that motor sport activities remain a priority at the facility, committing to ensure the site’s future use for our community.

Council has an agreement in place with the current lessee for day to day operations of Lakeside Park.

In late November, a meeting was called with the lessee attended by The Deputy Mayor Cr Jodie Shipway, Cr Jim Moloney (Division 8) and Council Officers to address ongoing safety and compliance concerns at the facility, with the highest order being the conducting of independent safety audits.

At the meeting the lessee was agreeable for Council to gain access to the site to conduct an independent safety audit on behalf of Council as the landowner.

Full, unfettered access was not granted to the independent auditor and as such the work could not be fully carried out. Council is still seeking access to complete an audit at this time.

All users and spectators entering the site should feel confident that safety is prioritised, and any identified risks are rectified or mitigated to the highest possible standard.

Council acknowledges that activities at the site have provoked noise complaints from members of the community, track users and stakeholders.

Efforts around responding to noise matters remain ongoing, and Council is committed to working with the lessee to ensure compliance, however Council’s immediate and primary concern is safety and the ability to conduct audits without interference.

What are you doing about noise?
