City of Moreton Bay has granted three local community and sporting clubs peppercorn leases of just $1 per annum to expand their facilities and strengthen their operations.
Mayor Peter Flannery said it was important to provide local organisations and sporting clubs with the facilities they need to continue their activities in the community.
“Every year, Council helps hundreds of community groups and clubs thrive by granting peppercorn leases to take the financial burden off operating costs.
“With these leases, we’re giving organisations the room to grow and invest in the future of local sports and deliver important community activities.
“Every dollar saved on operational costs is a dollar reinvested into better facilities, more programs, and a stronger future for our communities.
“Providing additional space for local organisations and sporting clubs at minimal cost is an easy decision - it’s one small way Council can support them in continuing their incredible work.”
The three community and sporting clubs granted peppercorn leases are:
Councillor Karl Winchester (Div 6) said the lease for Multicap Ltd will help them continue their important work.
“Multicap do exceptional work in the community and play a vital role supporting locals through everything from social connection to essential services.”
Councillor Jodie Shipway (Div 4) said investing in local sports clubs is an investment in healthy lifestyles and community connections.
“As a sports fan and parent, I know the local clubs are places for everyone to build skills, resilience and friendships. This is just one way Council can continue to support those efforts.”
