City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery was today elected Deputy Chair of the Council of Mayors South East Queensland (CoMSEQ). This Executive Committee role supports the Chair and Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Adrian Schrinner.
COMSEQ is Australia’s largest regional local government advocacy organisation - made up of 11 Mayors representing Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redland, Lockyer Valley, Noosa, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Toowoomba, Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast Council’s.
Mayor Peter Flannery said:
“I am delighted to host CoMSEQ in City of Moreton Bay today for our first meeting of the new Council term, post elections in March.
“It is crucial that SEQ has a strong and united voice when it comes to working with State and Federal Governments and our private sector partners.
“There are many issues that we all share including the need for more road and transport infrastructure, which is why we led the bid for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the first place, to enhancing economic development and creating jobs across our region. We need to balance these challenges while also meeting critical housing supply due to population growth, while at the same time championing environmental sustainability.
“I look forward to continuing a collaborative approach with fellow Mayors and Councils and leveraging this collective influence to make a positive difference for all SEQ residents.”
CoMSEQ represents the one in seven Australians who call SEQ home with a focus on facilitating better funding, policy and collaborative outcomes across the region.
