Moreton Army boots to hit the ground tomorrow

If you’ve been hit by floods and need help cleaning up, the ‘Moreton Army’ can be sent out to you.

Just jump online and fill out the request for assistance form at:

Mayor Peter Flannery said priority would be given to worst hit areas like Deception Bay, Redcliffe, Dayboro, Woodford, Morayfield, Burpengary, and Mango Hill.

“Some people have lost absolutely everything during the past week and there hasn’t been much reprieve with the continuation of rain yesterday,” he said.

“But as soon as it’s safe to do so this Saturday we’ll be deploying the first of the Moreton Army, to help with the clean-up and recovery effort to the worst affected areas.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response from locals wanting to come forward to volunteer their time to the recovery effort.

“Beyond the clean-up itself, seeing our community turn out for each other like this will be an enormous morale boost for devastated families.

“So please make sure you use today to register your home for help from the Moreton Army, and if rain comes again please stay home and off the roads until it passes.

“We’ve had more than 700 ‘floody legends’ register to be a part of the Moreton Army to help with clean-up activities in people’s homes, and help remove debris, mud and green waste.

“They’re pumped full of community spirit and they’re ready to go, so let’s put them to use and help get Moreton Bay back on track!”
