Moreton Bay’s ‘Warriors’ face-off against Broncos in NRL blockbuster
Published 29 March 2022
Acting Mayor Jodie Shipway said this will give locals a taste of what it’ll be like to have our very own NRL team when the Dolphins join the competition in season 2023.
“The Broncos will become our natural enemy when The Dolphins enter the NRL next year, so let’s make sure we pack out Moreton Daily Stadium with as many Vodafone Warriors fans as possible and make it a hostile environment for them!” she said.
“The Warriors have been outstanding Moreton Bay citizens since they arrived with roughly 100 players and staff choosing to relocate to our beautiful shores and send their children to local schools for season 2022.
“Their impact has been huge within the community with the local café at Dolphins Central having to put on more staff to cater for the team, and even businesses like the dentist and podiatrist have had a major spike in business.
“When Council made this deal with the Warriors, we knew it would be worth roughly $3 million to our local economy and that’s already starting to pay off for small businesses in the region.
“They’ve also full immersed themselves into our community by putting on clinics for local schools and next month they’ll even attend Council’s Bribie Big Arvo picnic and games for young people on Bribie Island.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have them here so let’s get out in numbers and support the Warriors at all six home games at Moreton Daily Stadium starting with the Broncos this Saturday.
“I’d love to see all 21,000 New Zealand ex-pats who live in Moreton Bay get to the games to cheer on their hometown team.”
