Moreton Bay Triathlon: Ramp and Road Closures

The Clontarf ramp at Pelican Park (Hornibrook Esplanade) will be closed from 6.30am - 8.30am on Sunday 23 September 2012, for the Moreton Bay triathlon.

Alternative ramps can be accessed at:

  • Margate - Margate Parade and Eveline Street
  • Scarborough - Flinders Parade (end Griffith Road)
  • Scarborough - Thurecht Parade - Thurecht Parade
  • Scarborough - Ramp next to Moreton Bay Boat Club (Bird O'Passage Parade) - Ramp next to Moreton Bay Boat Club (Bird O'Passage Parade)
  • Woody Point - Hornibrook Esplanade - Hornibrook Esplanade

The Moreton Bay triathlon will also affect roads in the area from 5.00am - 12.00noon.

The Southbound/Brisbane bound lanes of Hornibrook Avenue from Oxley Avenue to the Ted Smout Bridge will be closed. To head south commuters should use King and Elizabeth Street. 

Ted Smout Bridge will be closed until 11.00am and the Houghton Highway converted into two way traffic. Southbound vehicles will be directed onto the Houghton Highway Bridge and commuters should allow extra travel time. 

The foreshore pathway, South of Pelican Park, will be used for the run leg of the triathlon. Pedestrians and cyclists should use the footpath on the other side of the road when travelling along Hornibrook Esplanade.

Beachgoers should exercise caution crossing the cycle and run course.
