Treat Dad this Father’s Day with Footy Finals

If you haven’t made plans this Father’s Day, then give a gift your dad will love with a day at the footy.
The last round of the NRL season is touching down in Redcliffe on Sunday 5th September to coincide with Father’s Day celebrations.
Kicking off at 4:05pm, the West Tigers will go head-to-head with the Bulldogs at Moreton Daily Stadium.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the timing couldn’t be better.
“Ditch the socks this Father’s Day and get a gift your dad will actually enjoy,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Go on and treat your dad to some tickets to the final round game of the season with the Tigers taking on the Bulldogs.
"You can spend Father’s Day by the bay, exploring Bribie Island, taking wonderful walks in Samford and Dayboro, taking a food safari and so much more, before heading to the game.
“After hosting two wonderful weekends of double headers within the same month, we’re excited to welcome back the NRL for the third weekend of live action.
“Players have sung nothing but praise for Moreton Daily Stadium, likening the electric crowd atmosphere to that of a home game.
“In fact, hosting our first NRL Premiership games have been a real coming of age for the stadium since undergoing major upgrades.
“Council has been the single biggest investor into the recent grandstand construction, contributing a total of $8.4 million, and I am proud that it’s paying dividends for the entire region.
“And after positive bid talks with the NRL this week, we hope to soon see the Dolphins lining up as the 17th team in the competition.
“A local team in the NRL will benefit the entire region by putting Moreton Bay Region on the national map, attracting trade and investment, and securing major tourism and events.
“As one of the fastest growing urban regions in Australia, a result for the Dolphins will only accelerate our 20-year vision to have a $40 billion-dollar local economy by 20241 through our Regional Economic Development Strategy.
“You don’t have to stop your planning here, with the popular KiteFest bringing colour and entertainment to Pelican Park for all to enjoy next Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September.”
