Old Petrie Town Update

Council today agreed to establish a Councillor Taskforce to oversee the transition of Old Petrie Town from Y Queensland back to City of Moreton Bay.
The Councillor Taskforce will establish several options for the site’s future based on a comprehensive review already underway.
In September this year, City of Moreton Bay and Y Queensland agreed to extend Y Queensland’s ongoing management of the Old Petrie Town site to 30 June 2025, a six (6) month extension from the original lease end date of 31 December 2024.
Y Queensland is subsequently seeking to extend all lease arrangements with on-site tenants through to 30 June 2025.
The lease extension sees businesses able to trade up to, and during, the busy Christmas period, and ensures Council and Y Queensland can continue to support commercial and community leaseholders who have extended their sub-leases, as the site transitions back to Council.
The review of Old Petrie Town, including assessments to understand the current condition of assets at the site, will enable Council to better understand the best way forward for site, and guide how Old Petrie Town can continue to benefit City of Moreton Bay’s community into the future.
The Councillor Taskforce will consider site investigation updates by Council officers and expert external advisers and present findings for Council to consider once the detailed investigation has been finalised.
Council Taskforce members are Cr Darren Grimwade, Cr Adam Hain, Cr Yvonne Barlow, Cr Jim Moloney and Cr Cath Tonks.
City of Moreton Bay and Y Queensland are committed to keeping stakeholders informed throughout the transition process.
For more than 25 years, Y Queensland and City of Moreton Bay have worked together to activate the unique site that is Old Petrie Town.
City of Moreton Bay leases the land at 901 Dayboro Road known as Old Petrie Town to Y Queensland.
Y Queensland has been on the site since 1998 and held the head-lease for the site since 2005, managing sub-leasing and sub-licensing during this period.
Currently, all sub-leasing arrangements are the responsibility of Y Queensland.
