Council scores $2 million netball courts renewal in Redcliffe

Over 450 Redcliffe Leagues Netball Association members will benefit from the recently completed netball court renewal at KR Benson Park, Clontarf thanks to funding from City of Moreton Bay and the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery, Member for Redcliffe, Hon Yvette D’Ath, Cr Karl Winchester (Div 6) and Club President Mark Kitson officially opened the newly refurbished courts last Saturday.
Mayor Flannery said this upgrade will go a long way to improve the facilities and create a thriving, active local netball community.
“The KR Benson Park netball court renewal provides essential support for the growing netball association, offering players state-of-the-art facilities to enhance their sporting experience,” he said.
“By providing clubs with modern, safe, and accessible facilities, we are investing in the health and well-being of our community while nurturing the talent and passion of our sport-loving community."
Member for Redcliffe, Yvette D’Ath said the Queensland Government is delighted to bolster funding for the netball court renewal.
“We’re proud to invest $1,194,000 into this project as part of our South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program,” she said.
“I’d also like to acknowledge the Redcliffe Leagues Netball Associations members and volunteers and all the hard work they do to support this sport.
“The Queensland Government is committed to promoting active lifestyles and we want every Queenslander, regardless of age or ability, to have access to top-notch facilities such as these new netball courts."
Division 6 Councillor Karl Winchester, said that the court renewal will better support the growing netball community in Redcliffe.
“We've worked diligently to bring these courts up to modern standards while ensuring they remain vibrant hubs for our netball enthusiasts,” he said.
“This is a big score for the local netball community. Whether you are playing for fun or aspiring to be a professional netballer, these upgraded courts will provide the necessary infrastructure to pursue their goals.”
Redcliffe Leagues Netball Association Club President Mark Kitson thanked City of Moreton Bay and State Government’s involvement in this project.
“We appreciate both Council and the Queensland Government’s investment into our netball community and we look forward to working together to further enhance our facilities and programs for the benefit of our members and the wider community.”
