Redcliffe Leagues Netball’s facilities at KR Benson Park in Clontarf are about to get an all new fit-out.
Mayor Peter Flannery announced $251,245 funding was unanimously approved by Council today to deliver the upgrades before the end of the year.
“This will see an overhaul of the amenities building located next to the Netball Clubhouse to bring it up to more modern standards,” he said.
“That will include accessibility upgrades in the carpark to provide compliant access, as part of this Council’s commitment to making Moreton Bay Region the most accessible in South East Queensland.”
Councillor Karl Winchester (Div 6) said the project would also improve the onsite amenities, something parents have been calling for.
“The rise and rise of popularity of netball as a sport means more people are wanting to come down to watch and play, so we need our facilities to keep pace with that demand,” he said.
“We will be making necessary improvements to the accessibility of the male toilets and will also be installing a compliant unisex ambulant toilet facility.
“There’ll also be changes to the configuration of the storage area to make this more secure and more user-friendly.
“I’ve heard the community’s calls to provide improved, suitable and compliant amenities and I’m proud to be part of a Council that’s delivering on this important need.
“Best of all the works have been scheduled in line with the conclusion of the netball season, to ensure minimal disruption for players and their families.”
Construction will commence in September 2021 and is estimated to take 12 weeks to complete, which includes an allowance for potential wet weather.
