Leave Your Bins Out - Collection Catch Up On Saturday
Published 09 September 2022
Council’s waste contractor Cleanaway will be coming around the region this weekend to pick up any recycling bins that haven’t been emptied.
If your recycling bin has not been collected, please make sure you leave it out tomorrow and if it isn’t collected by 6PM on Saturday report it on Sunday via Council’s ‘missed bin’ portal online.
Cleanaway has advised that if the weekend catch-up runs are successful, services will be back to normal from Monday 12 September.
Mayor Peter Flannery said he’s cautiously optimistic and that Council has written to Cleanaway, demanding an explanation for ongoing bin delays.
“The situation has gone on too long and locals are frustrated by these delays, understandably, in fact I share these frustrations,” Mayor Flannery said.
“We have written to Cleanaway and the situation, because it will become untenable if this continues.
“This is a service locals pay for through their rates, so we expect the contract services to be delivered.
“The important thing tonight and tomorrow is to remember to leave your recycling bins out, so that Cleanaway can get to them on Saturday.
“Check Council’s website and please leave your missed recycling bin by the kerbside on Saturday as catch up services are occurring then.
“Hopefully their staffing situation will be fixed shortly.”
Please remember that if your bin is blocked by an on-street vehicle or other obstruction it cannot be collected.
