As the Easter school holidays approach, City of Moreton Bay is gearing up to keep the kids engaged and entertained with a diverse range of budget-friendly events and activities between 1-14 April.

From our libraries and galleries to museums, environmental centres and the Active Holidays program, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the program offered a wide variety of affordable activities, suitable for all school-aged children, with most of the events free of charge.

“The activities on offer during Council’s School Holiday program, coupled with 2024 Youth Week events (7-13 April), are sure to keep kids and young people entertained during the holiday break,” he said.

“With a huge range of free or low-cost options on offer over the two weeks, it’s a great opportunity for kids to meet new friends, get creative and learn new skills in their community.

“Families can easily plan their holiday adventures by visiting Council’s website, where a comprehensive list of activities searchable by dates and locations is available.

The 2024 City of Moreton Bay autumn school holiday program includes a huge range of activities with some special highlights:

  • Active Holidays
    Council’s popular Active Holidays program brings children 3 to 17 years together to play, develop skills and make new friends during the school holidays. All activities are either free or $5.00 and are provided by qualified and experienced instructors in a safe and inclusive environment. Mark your calendars, bookings open 11am Thursday 21 March.

  • Queensland Youth Week
    Youth Week offers a variety of activities for young people including the Amazing Moreton Bay Challenge, where participants can explore the city’s fantastic places and natural spaces and go in the draw to win great prizes! 
    Hang out with friends and enjoy some music at the Bribie Big Arvo, reel in some prizes in the fishing competition, get creative in the songwriting program, and so much more!

  • Monster Siege big adventure: family fun day
    Monster Siege promises to be a clash of epic proportions where kids unite in the ultimate battle against their dastardly foes: the adults!
    Get ready to unleash your inner monsters at South Pine Indoor Sports Complex with a full two days of adventure on Wednesday 3 & Thursday 4 April. This free event requires bookings.

  • Visit our galleries and museums
    Explore free exhibitions at our six galleries or museums including Nature by Night Imaginarium at the Redcliffe Museum, offering families a glimpse into the nocturnal world of Australian wildlife. There’s also free art activities for kids at Redcliffe Art Gallery and heaps more.
  • What’s on across our libraries
    Visit one of our 10 libraries hosting free hands-on workshops and immersive experiences. From medieval knight encounters to clay pottery sessions, wildlife shows to arts and crafts and much more. Bookings now open.

  • Explore an environmental centre
    Families can discover the wonders of nature at our environmental centres, Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre (CREEC), Osprey House and Kumbartcho with the free educational app Agents of Discovery.

There’s also fun to be had in the fresh air at one of the many skate parks, playgrounds, BMX tracks, parks and reserves that Council maintains across Moreton Bay.
