Step into Spring with School Holiday Fun!
Published 16 September 2021
School's nearly out for Spring, and there’s plenty to do to keep the kids smiling.
Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Spring School Holiday program is jam-packed with new activities and events in libraries, galleries, museums, environmental centres, parks and playgrounds across the region.
With all activities free or low cost, Mayor Peter Flannery said families didn’t need to spend big to enjoy the holidays.
“Our popular school holidays program is back and brimming with cool events and activities for children and young people,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Crunch down on some curious insect snacks at our Bugs On The Menu event at the Bribie Island Seaside Museum.
“Or let your child be the director of their own show with stop motion animation workshops at the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery.
“Our ten libraries across the region will be bustling with more than just book worms, with Street Science shows on food sustainability, Pico and the Golden Lagoon puppet shows for the littlies, and designing a superhero badge and costume.
“Author Kylie Chan will also be at North Lakes Library to teach teen budding writers the art through a Writing Believable Characters workshop.
“The Bribie Project is kicking off with a program of free and affordable activities across the island, part of a year-long project to increase young people’s sense of belonging to the local community.
“For kids who like to let a little bit of energy out, our popular Active Holidays program will get them moving.
“Join us for a wild survival challenge in Samford Valley where you will learn the skills and mindset required to survive in the Australian bush.
“Or paddle board in Bongaree, play disc golf at Pine Rivers Park, learn basic boxing techniques at the PCYC Caboolture and build confidence in the water with little lifesavers at Settlement Cove Lagoon, Redcliffe.
“Nature lovers can also explore any of our environmental centres, from navigating through the natural wonders at CREEC and Kumbartcho with the new Agents of Discovery app to exploring the mangrove wetlands at Osprey House.”
