Stellar Brisbane Writers Festival coming to Moreton Bay libraries

City of Moreton Bay will play host to Brisbane Writers Festival, with a series of meet-the-author events headlined by multi-award-winning author, journalist, and broadcaster Tracey Spicer.
Mayor Peter Flannery, avid reader and book enthusiast, said this unique experience gives bookworms and aspiring writers a chance to connect with renowned authors at libraries across Moreton Bay.
“This is a huge coup for our City, giving residents a chance to get up close with some of their favourite authors, ask questions, and hear one-off insights and writing tips that you wouldn’t read about!” he said.
“The Brisbane Writers Festival is a highly respected annual event, with world-renowned guest speakers, and Moreton Bay has a unique chance to be involved in the story.
“These special events inspire thought, discussion, and creativity in our community through a diverse range of literary discussions.
“These are unmissable events for our book-loving community from beginning to end.
“This is also a perfect opportunity for our incredible libraries to display their importance in our community to a wider audience.”
Multi-award-winning author, journalist and broadcaster Tracey Spicer will discuss her latest novel, Man-Made at North Lakes Library on 1 June 2024. Tracey will discuss the rapid rise of AI and the ethical questions it poses. She will be signing books available for purchase after the discussion.
Well-known and regarded psychiatrist Anne Buist and bestselling novelist Graeme Simsion will discuss their latest collaborative novel, The Glass House at Redcliffe Library. The event will touch on their writing process and the themes of their new work.
Plus don’t miss your chance to hear from acclaimed author, screenwriter, journalist, and historian Mark Dapin discussing his latest novel, Carnage. Mark is one of the leading voices in contemporary literature and is the winner of the Ned Kelly Award for Best First Fiction, long-listed for the Miles Franklin Literary Award, and shortlisted for the Age Book of the Year and Royal Society for Literature’s Ondaatje Prize.
