Softball in Moreton Bay is about to step up to the plate, with Talobilla Park in Kippa Ring set to receive a new modern and accessible clubhouse.
This $4.8 million project is made possible through joint funding, with the Australian Government and City of Moreton Bay each contributing $2.4 million.
Mayor Peter Flannery welcomed the Australian Government’s support for the community-focused project.
“This funding is a real win for our softball community, showing the Australian Government’s confidence in Moreton Bay as one of South East Queensland’s fastest-growing cities.
“The softball facility at Kippa-Ring is important for Moreton Bay residents who are passionate about the sport, and it’s a massive draw card for teams visiting from beyond the city.
“The delivery of this new infrastructure means we can focus on attracting high profile sporting events to our city and elevate our role as a key location for softball and baseball competitions across South East Queensland.
“The new clubhouse will provide purpose-built amenities and club facilities, supporting over 700 members in the Redcliffe Leagues Softball Association and attracting even more people to the sport.”
Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Senator for Queensland, Anthony Chisholm highlighted the value of community sports facilities like the new softball clubhouse at Talobilla Park in building stronger local connections.
“Sporting clubs provide space for locals and visitors to come together, stay active, and enjoy everything community sport has to offer. We’re proud to be supporting council to deliver this project through our Thriving Suburbs Program.”
Councillor Sandra Ruck (Div 5) said the softball clubhouse upgrade will elevate the experience for all players and volunteers and better support grass roots sport as well as larger scale events.
“The new softball clubhouse at Talobilla Park will transform the facilities into a modern clubhouse with two changing rooms, an umpire room, amenities, a first aid room, an office, a clubroom, internal storage, and a multi-purpose kitchen facility.
“This upgrade will support both local players and volunteers, ensuring the sustainability of the club as it continues to serve a growing number of residents.”
The Talobilla Softball Clubhouse is jointly funded by City of Moreton Bay and the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program.
Construction of the softball clubhouse at Talobilla Park, Kippa-Ring is expected to commence in mid-2025 and is anticipated to be completed by mid-2026.
