Calling all collectors - Council Museums want to hear from you!

City of Moreton Bay is currently on the hunt for interesting and quirky collections to feature in The Keeper: Collectors and their collections, opening at Pine Rivers Heritage Museum in April this year.
Mayor Peter Flannery said this will be a one-of-a-kind exhibition showcasing curious collections from throughout the region.
“I can’t wait to see what’s on display in this exhibition later this year. I think Moreton Bay is brimming with diverse, unique, and surprising collections and this is a fantastic opportunity for collectors to share their passion with the world,” Mayor Flannery said.
“This opportunity could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance for someone to share their story and their collection with others.
“Moreton Bay is rapidly becoming a leading destination to discover a wide range of high-quality arts and cultural experiences where people can get creative and connect with others and this exhibition will deliver just that.
“So, I would encourage everyone to dig around their sheds, cabinets, garages, and homes to see what hidden gems you uncover that could be considered for this exhibition.”
City of Moreton Bay Museum Curator Carly Hughes said she’s on the lookout for all things unusual or quirky.
“I’ve seen a lot of interesting personal collections over the years and it’s always fascinating to hear the stories behind each one and the people who have collected these objects,” Ms Hughes said.
“In a previous exhibition we worked with local collectors to display their collections of Uranium glass, Star Trek collectables, Holden memorabilia and even unique fossils!
“Some of these collections are so special and have been passed from generation to generation, carefully cared for by each family and become a part of that person or family’s identity and story.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what collections we discover through this process and being able to share those with visitors to the museum.
