Welcome to Bribie

Published 30 October 2013

A new sign has been installed by Moreton Bay Regional Council on approach to Bribie Island Bridge to welcome visitors to one of South East Queensland’s favourite holiday destinations.

Division One councillor Gary Parsons said installation of the welcome to Bribie Island sign coincided with the 50th anniversary of the opening of the bridge.

“When the Bribie Island Bridge opened there were just 600 people living on the island, but it became the catalyst for the significant migration from the mainland and an increase in day-trippers and holiday makers,” Cr Parsons said.

“It’s only appropriate that we give visitors to the island a big warm Bribie welcome and also remind locals they live in one of the best parts of South East Queensland.

“Thank you to state MP Lisa France and the Bribie island Chamber of Commerce for their assistance helping me to show Bribie off to the rest of the nation.”
