Request a refund of animal registration fees

You can request a refund if:

  • your cat or dog passed away between 1 October and 31 March of the current registration period
  • you desex your pet during the current registration period
  • you become eligible to receive a pension concession between 1 October and 31 March of the current registration period
  • you have overpaid. You can also transfer an overpayment to another animal registered in your name.

Request a refund

If you desex your pet or become eligible for a pension concession, you may receive a partial refund of the extra amount you paid.

Council assesses refunds on a case-by-case basis.

Only the person who made the payment can receive the refund. If we approve your refund request, we will transfer the funds into your bank account. This can take up to 30 days. If we do not approve your request, we will notify you in writing.

Providing proof of payment

To process your request, you must provide proof of payment. We will accept a copy of a receipt, or a bank statement. The bank statement must show the transaction and account details, including the BSB, account number and account name.

If your request is for a refund of a duplicated payment, you must provide proof of both payments.

We may also request other supporting documentation.
