Sandbags must not be placed into your general waste bin unless they are empty. The sand can be used as topsoil on lawns and gardens. Do not allow sand to wash into stormwater drains.

Sandbags will not stop flood waters entirely. Suitable placement of correctly filled bags may reduce the amount of water that enters your property.
Where possible, purchase items needed to make your own sandbags or buy pre-filled sandbags from local hardware stores or landscaping suppliers.
The State Emergency Service (SES) may be able to provide assistance to residents physically unable to get their own sandbags due to illness, age or other incapacity. If assistance is required, contact the SES on 132 500.
If attending a Council sandbag location, bring your own shovel as you may be required to fill your own sandbags.
