Osprey House

Osprey House

Osprey House Environment Centre will be closed for Christmas from 3:00 PM on Sunday, 22 December 2024. Regular business hours resume Tuesday, 7 January 2025. Boardwalks will be available throughout.

Osprey House is the place to discover Moreton Bay's vast bird and marine life.

The environment centre is open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday to Saturday, and 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday. It is closed on public holidays.

Explore the Osprey House grounds

Take a stroll on the boardwalk to learn about mangrove habitats. Use the viewing platforms and bird hide to watch Moreton Bay wildlife in action.

Once you have finished exploring the different saltmarsh, mangrove, and eucalypt habitats, use the barbecue and picnic facilities for lunch.

You can visit the grounds 7 days a week during daylight hours. These are not bookable spaces and dogs are not allowed (excluding service dogs).

Meet the resident ospreys and observe their nest

Osprey House has a specifically designed raptor pole and monitoring system.

The first nesting pair of eastern ospreys arrived in 2008 and the first successful hatching was in July 2009. The resident pair, Hope and George, have occupied the nest since May 2018. They have had more than 5 offspring successfully fledge over the years.

You can view live CCTV footage of the pair and learn more about the nest and their breeding behaviours. If you visit the centre in June, you might be able to see if they have recently laid any eggs.
