Amending an existing food business licence
You will need to apply for an amendment to your food business licence to make:
- minor administrative changes such as updating your contact details or trading name
- structural changes to your premises, including changes to layout or floorplan
- changes to your licence conditions.
If your food business is changing locations, you must submit a new application for a food business licence.

Minor administrative changes
To update your contact details, apply for an amendment to your current food business licence. We do not charge a fee for a minor amendment.
Structural changes to existing food premises
If you are making alterations to an existing food premises, you may need Council approval before works start.
Minor structural changes do not need Council approval. This includes:
- replacing an old cooking appliance or refrigeration unit
- replacing a benchtop or cupboard doors
- replacing damaged floor tiles or vinyl.
Major structural changes need approval, and may include:
- refurbishing or redesigning the kitchen
- expanding the kitchen
- changing the way you handle or process food. For example, adding deep fryers and cookers to premises that previously only made sandwiches.
Apply for an amendment to your food business licence before you start work on major structural changes to your premises. An application fee of T162 applies.
Change to food licence conditions
You need to apply for an amendment to change any conditions on your food licence. An application fee of T324 applies.
How to apply
- Select 'Apply for an amendment to your food licence’ and sign in to your Online Services account. If you do not have an account, you can register.
- Go to 'Enquiries'.
- Find the enquiry type ‘Permits and Licences - Food Business Licence’ and click 'Start'.
- In the 'I want to make an application for' question, select 'Food Business', and then select 'Amendment to Existing Food Business Premises'.
- Enter your business address. If your business is mobile and you live in City of Moreton Bay, enter your home address. Otherwise, enter Caboolture Administration Building, 2 Hasking Street, Caboolture, Queensland, 4510. Then select 'Next'.
- Under ‘Applicant details’ complete all applicant/company information.
- Select the type of change you need to request and answer all the mandatory questions, then select 'Next'.
- Select 'Lodge' and then review and 'Accept' the terms and conditions.
